Motivation!!!!

Taken on 27.11.2010

Well, while the photo was taken on 27.11.2010, I will also talk about 26.11.2010 cause both days equally mention-worthy.

So, 26.11.2010. One word to describe the day : EPIC!!!! Because today, yumcha session got Mr. Ong as well! I mean, usually, with Mr. Simon, its funny enough but when we add in Mr. Ong, I daresay, classes might as well be conducted in White la!! Yeah, although from the students there are only Arthur, Cheok, Adam, Shu Tin, Tze Lin and me (obviously), all of us joked and crapped so much that the sheer thought of it makes me laugh. Definitely memorable is when we apply segregation on who should get which World Prize (for the papers I am taking next year). I mean, some of us definitely already target and aim for one or two(back-up) whereas I am still in the situation where, IF the World Prize fall on my lap, take la. Though, I don't mind if my World Prize come later though. XD. Then another thing was, when I was eating my roti canai, Adam asked both lecturers for their opinion about making next year 1.5 years instead of 1 year and I almost couldn't take another bite of my roti canai when I heard them talking. It's like so typical accountant. i.e the profits realise slower la, revenue is deferred. I am like WTF!!! mentally. I think Tze Lin caught my wavelength then. There is more things that we talked, joked and discussed about but typically me, I forgotten most of it and for topics that are more perverse by nature, it will be funnier if talked about in real life. XD

A little prediction for the beginning of 2011: Classes are most probably conducted in White *wink *wink. XD

Ok, 27.11.2010, nothing much to elaborate except that sat for two exam papers. Principle of Taxation mock exam and Thinking Skills final exam. Neither was walk in the park!

Oh yeah, talking about World Prize, I am thinking that if I really do get one, I will have to travel to UK to attend the award ceremony. Maybe I will have the time to visit all my classmates currently studying in UK, especially all the parts of London. Some time to chit-chat and catch-up? Hopefully. Tour around the city and historical landmarks? Wonderful. I don't know. This is sort of like my newfound motivation. XD

Well, that's all I suppose. I am quite happy for both days and its timeeeeeeeeeee to raise the bars~~~ Motivation also got ady, what else is stopping me? XD

Barairo no Sekai

but not for me. I don't think my world was ever in that colour. My world was always the colour of black (out of dullness and boredom) but only when I entered secondary school, only then did I start seeing yellow and orange colours. Of course, that was a lttle too late cause in secondary school, bound to have things that will break your heart. I still remember in Form 1, I was originally suppose to go to Form 1A but got thrown into Form 1G last minute.

I remember entering Form 1G uber cautiously and timidly because at that time, I felt like I was surrounded by strangers which some of them gradually became my classmates for my whole secondary life. Yeah, if you remember yourself, be glad I still remember what happened. I still remember being asked to randomly nominate someone to be class monitor. I practically laughed every day since then. All the way up to my last day of secondary school.

Then, once I entered college, I had more hues present. With all the experience I managed to have and jobs I was given the chance to do. Still no barairo but that doesn't really matter. I am kinda glad that colour never appeared in my life yet. Cause I don't want to have a false impression of life. I rather PAINT MY OWN world that colour than letting it come-and-go.

Yeah, this is post is very flashback-type.

PS: Barairo no sekai means the rose-coloured world. Just in case you don't know. XD

Yuen's Steamboat and Shogun

XD, yes, I am being evil here. This is a post of outings which relates to eating places. And good ones too.

Basically, on 13.11.2010, had a mini-outing with Form 5 classmates( you know what, Chun Tean, you are part of 5 Science 1 and if you want to keep your 5 Science 2 past, it's up to you. XD) Only Sonia, Yee Jean, Sow Yeng, Lilian, Chun Tean and Jun Jin was able to make it there, at YUEN's STEAMBOAT. Yeah, say I am pathetic or sad, but the fact is, this is my first time eating there, after studying in Sunway for a year plus. XD. Had a great time talking crap with each other. And particularly liked the part, Celery and Salary. It really shows how a healthy mind and money mind differs from each other. Then, stopped by at Sonia's house for a short moment before having Chun Tean to send me back home. (Ps: Sonia, Ginger is interesting, I want to play with her more!!)

Then, in between those days, a lot of stuff happened but jump to 19.11.2010, which is Shogun at Sunway Pyramid with SUAC members. And the best part, it is all paid for!!! With whose money? I say, I don't give a damn. Although, at the same time, BDO actually organised and sponsored tickets to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie. But then, I only know that by going to Shogun, I had a full stomach, a very hearty laugh and great company!!!! I mean, the Sunway International School gakis/shoujos are damn crazy. 1994 kiddos as well, man, I feel slightly old but no worries! XD
After that, hanged out at the Archery and Arcade. And its Sayonara~~~

The little things in life that means so much. In the future, things won't be the same anymore but the memory we had will be inalterable/unchangeable. The place and the food might be the same, but the people, composition and tone of the meal, will definitely become different. By quite a considerable amount.

(Sounds a little emo-ish but maybe that is what I am feeling right now)

ICAEW

you are gonna be the death of me and dominate my life for the time being(at least for these few years). Though, I love being a helpless romantic to you. ANYWAY! Point to be proof is:

On Thursday(11.11.10), I drove (again) for the whole day. With the early part starting at 8.00am. Going to KLCC. I had to be there really early, cause on a curiousity on my part, I really wanted to know how PricewaterhouseCoppers (PwC) office look like. So, I gotta park at KLCC then take a LRT to KL Sentral.

Yeah, so Adam and I walked to PwC office and he sort of smuggled me in. It was fun. I mean, the decor of PwC is quite.. funky (only the pantry) whereas the office by itself looks very clean-cut and neat. It is a quite a waste that I wasn't able to go to more places though. Anyway, once Adam collected his internship letter from PwC, we head back to KLCC cause the day officially started with entering World Congress of Acccountants exhibition halls. And on the way to the convention centre, the tunnel looked damn great! For no reason other than the ICAEW advertisement. I mean, black and red together is such a damn nice colour. Heck, I would even use the word sexy. (Just unfortunately, some people ain't able to carry that colour well, XD) and a sneak peek of the ceiling for you guys.

Then, right, I heard that something happened in the exhibition hall while some of us were playing around in the tunnel. The some of us are Cheryl, Joanne, Vanessa, Shu Tin, Wesley, Lee Ning and me! We had a great time and managed to avoid being the 'victims'.

Once we were done, we head back to the exhibition hall and start lazing around in either ICAEW booth or Sunway-Tes booth. I forgotten what I was doing but it definitely wasn't productive. Moving on though, we proceeded to listen to the Interview with CEOs: Accountants in the Next Decade: Embracing Change and Seizing Opportunities. It was quite interesting but me being my usual restless self, felt a little bored sitting only.

So, once the talk was done with, all of us have to rush back to college and about me, well, I basically had 4 passengers in my car, namely: Adam, Tze Lin, Wesley and Lee Ning. Anyway, my driving really needs polishing up, cause sooner or later, I might be sued for manslaughter if I keep driving the same way. XD

Moving on, we just barely managed to reach Sunway University-College on time. Cause by the time I just parked my car, suddenly, the rain just came pouring down!! Adam and Wesley is lucky to escape to pink. ><, so sorry Lee Ning! I am skipping the part about the one with Michael Izza, cause it is just random funny moments there.

Now, the real fun begins when some of us have to rush to Sheraton and help out with two things. Graduation and Annual Dinner. The graduation wasn't much, just a small event. Whereas for the Annual Dinner, the moment I laid my eyes on my classmates(girls only), I pratically drool and salivate. My soul left my body and I am at a loss of words. The only thing I was capable of doing at that time was to bow (as gentlemanly as I can muster then) and giggle in fits, out of sheer joy! Then, when the dinner starts, I will have to say that the food is below par and the only thing very memorable is the company. I mean, we even get to see Mr. Ong's wife. Who is quite a statuesque beauty, I would say. Of course, something pretty unpleasant happened, but let bygones be bygones, Jowena.

Guess what, at the end of the day, I had to send Adam home as well. And had our own chit-chat session in the car la. Was kinda 'informative' la.

Basically, the day/night ended well. Had the time of my life. See how two days (9.11.2010 & 11.11.2010) occupied so much of my time and life. I am kinda glad my mother went to Hong Kong during these two days actually. XD

9.11.2010!

Taken on 9.11.2010, which building do you think this is? XD, its actually THE ORANGE of orange, pink and white trio (eating places around Sunway University-College).

Anyway, today was quite ok, good even! Well, first off, had Principle of Taxation in the morning and Mr. Simon did us a great favour by revising chapter 11 a little. I also want to apologise to Lee Ning and Wesley for not reminding earlier about the class. Then right, Chapter 12 is gonna be a big, big headache but nevermind, I shall persevere!!

Following up, I had Thinking Skills and Mr. Mike really go like a bullet train. But I sort of have the feeling that he went so fast is because he want us to read up by ourselves? Anyway, as promised, he ended class early so that a few of us can go help prepare for ICAEW Cocktail Party (though we actually did not do so, story further down).

Had the honour of sending Arthur back to his house though. Then, after that, it is one-way ride to Bangsar then my house then KLCC with Adam, Amelia, Cheok and Wei Ken. I still got a long way to go and definitely much more room for improvements. But one thing for sure, I LIKE MANUAL MORE!!!!!!

Anyway, due to some delay here and there (you know, the usual hiccup in plans), we(meaning Adam, Cheok, Wei Ken and me la) only manage to reach KLCC at 5.00pm. Then, right, I think with this ICAEW Cocktail Party, my reputation gone la! T.T, sad case ain't it? Seriously, my reputation of being handsome, gone la, Gone with the wind. T.T

Ok, so my job there is basically to guide the participants to the lift. Imagine standing for 2 hours and doing that only. I really don't know how normal people wear heels and survive cause mine is only about an inch and now my legs are still aching(as I am writing this post). Eventually, we closed off and I returned back to Petroleum Club. My new job there is to give out souvenirs for the participants. Guess what ICAEW giving?

A MOLESKINE NOTEBOOK AND A PENDRIVE WITH COOL ENCASING!!!!!!!

Seriously, when I was there, I salivate not because of the food but because of the souvenirs. Alas, the souvenirs were snapped up. Totally.
Back to the event, I enjoyed myself pretty much, although I was only informed quite last minute and without much notice. Yeah, at least I get a glimpse of how networking events work. Cause the last few I attended.. was never on this scale. I mean, World Congress of Accountants speakers presence really make things magnified.

So, in a conclusion, some of the memorable conversation of the day:
1. I spoke to Johan Raslan(JR), Managing Director of PwC Malaysia. Nah, actually story is Randy asked Johan Raslan to take photo with us. Then, right, he asked us which firm did we work in then, please read the below:
JR: What about you?
JK(me): I interned at somewhere else?
JR: Somewhere else, where?
JK: BDO
JR: Laugh/Snicker/Giggle, (whichever it is la)
and sorta bow. I don't know why though. Still manage to bring a smile to me whenever I recall it. XD

2. Scenario is driving on the road:
The stooges in my car were keeping record of the speed I drive, then every increase also they will hooray! Break new record liao! Wah, so fast! That kind of thing. Then, suddenly, the big vehicle in front of my slowed down (actually not really near la, got quite a big gap), so
JK : Wah! Gonna bang the front car liao!
Arthur, Adam, Cheok all show me palau face and shouted: Got another 10 meters la!!!!

Yup, that's pretty much about it.
Orange never fail to make me happy. XD

PS. Palau is a word from CFAB July 2009 language. It means ignore and specifically used for facial expressions. XD

Unthinkable!!!

Well, this one serves a few purpose actually. XD

I am in the midst of doing a reflection of the movie Unthinkable. And, oh boy, what a headache! I mean, I am good at writing non-stop but only if it is a topic I am good at or I am just being aimless. ><, but then, I am sort of enjoying myself cause it gives me a sense of my Big L time. Still, it is still mind-boggling. XD

Then, the next Unthinkable comes from, I don't know when, my inclusion on a cocktail party organised by ICAEW for the speakers of World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) 2010. I mean, me? Jowena Kok, being included? No doubt my role is only one of an usherer but to be included, I find that an honour by itself.

Yeah, not only that, besides being busy on 9 November, I also have things to do on 11 November, then steamboat with secondary classmates on 13 November! I find myself so busy it is..

UNTHINKABLE!!!

Great 5 days!!! (Penang to Kuala Lumpur arc)

Disclaimer : Lots of fun involved, no bars held, stereotyping committed. XD

Finally, the last day of OUR trip. Didn't really do much today cause today everyone is a little tired. Though, we did do something a little playful. Which is:

This morning, Adam, Arthur, Wei Ken and me, woke up early to catch the sunrise(sadly, we were on the wrong side of the beach though)Anyway, truth to be told, Penang's beach ain't as nice as Langkawi in terms of sand's texture, colour and scenery. XD

But nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves by drawing on the sands and posing here and there.

Then, once we are back to the service apartment, almost everyone is not awake yet. Except Lee Ning, who still seems a little groggy. What we did was actually to put some shaving cream on some of them. One of our conquest was Amelia's face, we succeeded but actually she already sensed us, so when we go for round 2 on her, the hunter(Arthur) became the hunted by Amelia. They were struggling on the bed. It was such big fun to watch them. XD

Then we had (failed) attempt on Shu Tin but the foam/cream landed on the comforter instead and got smeared all over later till no traces were evident. XD Anyway, there is really nothing much to say about our final day cause we did not plan for such a long day anyway.

So, basically all of us reached Hentian Duta at about 11.00pm and then we part ways.

AniManGaki 2010 : A Success Story!

Yup yup! AniManGaki 2010 was a great success! Although with all the problems that keep popping up at first, we manage to pull it off with a BIG BANG!! I am really glad that I joined SUAC last year March. One of the things I will never regret.

Well, beside taking a break from blogging about Penang and Langkawi trip, I also want to blog this first, because I am afraid history repeats itself and then I don't remember what to blog again for AMG '10.

First of all, although AMG '10 is a one-day event, nevertheless, it took us, SUAC people, months and months to plan what to do, gather sponsors and co-ordinating with outside parties. The brawns only came in on 30.10.2010 and AMG '10 day itself. XD I believe I saw the both sides because I was in sponsorship dept. and logistics dept. at different timeline.

Anyway, so for AMG '10, I woke up late. Gah!!!! So, wasted about 2 hours to help before the set up. Arrive there just in time fro AMG '10 to start.

So, just a short good and bad one in point form:

Good:
-AMG '10 was packed to the max! Tickets were sold out way earlier than expected and I think the rough estimated number of visitors we had at the end of the day was 1,200 people!!
-Cosplayers were damn cool and they all did their best! Particularly liked the one who cosplayed as Hisoka from HunterXHunter. I mean, when he manage pull it off, ain't that what cosplay is all about?
-The MCs were great!! They did all they can to make the whole event fun! The best part, they are willing to spend time with us for the post-mortem this year. Where do we get to find such good souls anymore?? ROCK ON GUYS!!!
-While I did not manage to spare time to enjoy the activities, I had great fun being the 'cleaner' though, I wonder if carrying a broom around is a bad idea.
-The AMG '10 t-shirt!!! Muahahahaha!!!
-All activities, matsuri games and haunted house is definitely happening!! Can see throngs of people throughout the day at all these places!

Bad:
-I think the rubbish bins issue needs to be arranged properly next year (translation : Jowena, you gotta do a better job next year!)

XD, well, I am only good at bragging la, so, what do you expect?

A short summary:

I woke up late but managed to reach in time for the event to start. I think that the food booths were a great addition to the whole event!! Because for the first time, I felt full in an event. Basically, had a rice, courtesy of Ms. Jane (teacher advisor), burger, honey lemon juice, Gintoki special (strawberry milk with pearl) and 2 snow ice. XD.

The cosplayers!!! OMG man!! I feel so happy for all of them cause they all looked really nice! I really respect their level of commitment and dedication. As mentioned before, I particularly liked the Hisoka cosplayer. There is Kagura from Gintama that is worth mentioning as well.

I think the bigger surprise was seeing Mr. Simon at the event. I think he was there accidentally. But it was great talking to him. Cause he really provided a lot of suggestion and ideas to make AMG even better in general although he is not SUAC's advisor or anything. Hat's off to you, Mr. Simon.

Now, what else did I not write??

Meh, will combine the planning stage and post-mortem in one post. XD
